Succulent Wreaths

For Mothers Day a few years ago I took my mom to our favorite nursery, Seaside Nursery in Carpinteria for a succulent wreath making class. Not only was it fun but we learned a lot. At first out wreaths were small but as the years have passed and we have added some new succulents they have take on  a mind of their own. I still think they look pretty cool though.

Right after I made it.

A few years later.

It looks awesome hung up on a wall,

or even laying flat.

My oh-so-creative mother also did a few succulent pots with holiday themes. It adds a little pop of color or decor to any table for the holidays.

Succulent Love

We love succulents over here at the White house. As far back as I can remember my parents have always had succulents and drought tolerant plants in our yard. For someone like me who can barely keep bamboo alive they are a great low maintenance plant, they require little water and are usually very hearty. They are easy to plant and add to any flower arrangement. There are varieties in many shades of green, red, brown, and even purple, and the flowering ones have some of the most vibrant colored buds I have ever seen. My fiance, Jon, and I landscaped our whole patio in succulents and I am proud to say they are thriving. Here are some photos of succulents from our yards.

The Hilton Wedding

On  April 12th Valerie and Trent Hilton got married in a quaint backyard soiree that was both beautiful and fun! We were honored to be a part of the celebration as guests as well as doing the flowers. Valerie and Susan wanted colorful flowers with accents of orange. The cocktail tables had center pieces of bright colored flowers and greens. The long banquet style tables were lined with candles in mason jars and a few bud-vases scattered throughout. The chairs on the aisles at the ceremony had hanging mason jars with flowers and the bride and groom's seats were marked with hanging baskets of flowers. The alter was the focal point for the ceremony. I wanted it to be tall and dramatic to draw focus to the bride and groom and I wanted the colors to pop against the sky backdrop and brown wooden deck. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed the event!

Wedding Shower

My girlfriends and I started a tradition of throwing a shower for each others' daughters. This March we had the pleasure of throwing our friend Susan's daughter Valerie a garden themed bridal shower. It took place in March outside in a back yard. They wanted a pastel color pallette and birds to be incorporated in the decor. The party favors were mini potted flowers, which added color underneath the photo tree that I created. Enjoy the pictures!

Engagement Party

In December in Italy I got engaged. It was amazing, and my fiance and I could not wait to get home and celebrate with all of our friends and family. We had our engagement party at my fiance's parents, the Lagues, house in Calabasas. The color scheme was turquoise and coral. We want to have a rustic vibe with lots of homemade and antique touches. Needless to say my mom knocked it out of the park and the colors were perfect against the mountain setting and the unique touches she did were adorable. Everyone had a blast and from the dessert table to the centerpieces it was picture perfect.
